Kristen Moore, Trinity’s dean of students, wins Jill Matus Award for Excellence in Student Services

In just a few years, Trinity College’s Dean of Students Kristen Moore has helped make the college community more welcoming and inclusive – and her efforts have earned her the Jill Matus Award for Excellence in Student Services.

At Trinity, Moore created a wellness space at the college where students can hang out and de-stress or take part in activities. She also created the position of associate director of community wellness, who has become a popular resource for students.

One of her priorities was to improve the culture of Trinity’s residences. She hired more staff to support students, an assistant dean of students and manager of residence operations, and personally led the training of dons. She also overhauled the welcome desk, improving service times, and established a residence acceptance system that prioritizes community engagement.

Moore is known for leading by example, having launched an administration-support fundraising initiative for LGBTQ students.
