Laura Rosella and Mohammad Karamouzian recognized by CIHR

Laura Rosella and Mohammad Karamouzian, professor and assistant professor, respectively, in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, have been recognized with 2025 Trailblazer Awards by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Population and Public Health.

The annual award supports early, middle and senior career researchers who are making exceptional contributions that promote population and public health for Canadians and citizens around the world through evidenced-based health policies as well as interventions.

Rosella, the division head of epidemiology and founder of the Population Health Analytics Laboratory at Dalla Lana, was honoured in the mid-career researcher category. Holder of a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Population Health Analytics, Rosella leads a world-renowned research program in public health modelling, chronic disease prevention and community well-being.

Karamouzian, a former veterinarian turned infectious disease epidemiologist, was honoured in the early-career category. His research focuses on reducing health inequities faced by marginalized populations.
