Jessica Kaknevicius honoured by Forest Products Association of Canada

Jessica Kaknevicius, an alum of the University of Toronto's master of forest conservation program, has received a Partnership Award from the Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC).

The award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated exceptional outstanding leadership and teamwork in advancing Canada’s forest sector.

Kaknevicius was honoured for accomplishments as the co-founder of Women in Wood, a volunteer network with over 3,700 members from around the world. She shares the honour with co-founder Lacey Rose.

“Ten years ago, likely without realizing it, Lacey and Jess started a movement… It’s an honour for us at FPAC to recognize Women in Wood this year for their work supporting not only women in forestry in Canada, but women in forestry around the world,” said Derek Nighbor, president and CEO of FPAC.

“The next generation will continue to grow the important role of women in the forest sector and hopefully, through Women in Wood, will see the value of supporting other women along the way,” said Kaknevicius, who is also the CEO of national charity Forests Canada.
