Anita McGahan named University Professor

Anita McGahan, a pre-eminent authority on industry evolution and the evolution of competitive advantage, has been named a University Professor.

A professor of strategic management and the George E. Connell Chair in Organizations & Society at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, McGahan is cross-appointed to the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy; the physiology department of the Faculty of Medicine; and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

McGahan is “internationally known both in academia and in practice for addressing some of the world’s most difficult and important problems,” said Vice-President and Provost Cheryl Regher.

At a reception to honour the University Professors, McGahan said, “I want to echo Prabhat [Jha]’s remarks about the importance of science and research especially at this moment with the truth under attack every time you turn around.

“I want to do that by emphasizing how important this institution, the University of Toronto, is at defending the truth and really standing up for innovation at the interface of education and research.”
