U of T named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers

The University of Toronto has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for the 15th consecutive year.

The competition, presented by Mediacorp and published in the Globe and Mail, recognizes Canadian organizations that are creating exceptional workplace diversity and inclusion programs.

Recipients of the 2022 award were reviewed based on the successful implementation of diversity initiatives for employees who identify as equity-deserving groups, including women, Indigenous and racialized persons, as well as those with a lived experience of disability, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

U of T was recognized for its work with the Anti-Black Racism Task Force, which consulted U of T community members across the three campuses to develop recommendations addressing anti-Black racism and promoting Black inclusion and excellence.

“Recommendations from the Anti-Black Racism Taskforce and Antisemitism Working Group – together with the Calls to Action issued by the U of T TRC Steering Committee – offer us critical guidance for making systemic change at the University of Toronto,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, vice-president, people strategy, equity and culture.

“Being named one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers is a testament to the wide-ranging efforts across our three campuses to remove barriers and promote welcoming environments for all employees and all students, both current and prospective. Doing this necessary work will ensure that we progress as an institution and evolve as a creative, academically rich community.”
