5 faculty members, 3 alumni receive Canadian Academy of Engineering fellowships

Eight members of the U of T community – five professors and three alumni – have been elected fellows of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE).
The CAE is a national institution through which individuals who have made outstanding contributions to engineering provide strategic advice on matters of critical importance to Canada and Canadians. CAE fellows are recognized for their accomplishments and leadership in their respective fields.
U of T faculty members elected CAE fellows are:
- Aimy Bazylak, professor, department of mechanical and industrial engineering, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
- Paul Chow, professor emeritus, Edward S. Rogers Sr. department of electrical and computer engineering, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
- Constantin Christopoulos, professor, department of civil and mineral engineering, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
- Ren-Ke Li, senior scientist, University Health Network and professor, department of surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Amer Shalaby, professor, department of civil and mineral engineering, Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering
Alumni elected CAE fellows are:
- Philip Ferguson, bachelor of applied science, engineering science
- Ming Hou, PhD, industrial engineering and adjunct professor, U of T Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS)
- Winnie Ye, master of applied science, electrical and computer engineering
“Through research, teaching, leadership and entrepreneurship, these exceptional faculty and alumni have had a tremendous impact nationwide in areas ranging from energy to computing to transit to infrastructure,” said Christopher Yip, dean of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. “On behalf of the faculty, congratulations to all our new CAE fellows.”
