3 faculty among U of T community members to receive Top 25 Women of Influence+ Canada Awards

Three U of T faculty members – Liisa Galea, Wendy Wolfman and Michelle Acorn – and four alumni have been recognized with Top 25 Women of Influence+ Canada Awards for 2025.
The annual awards are presented by Women of Influence+, a global organization committed to advancing women’s leadership and workplace equity, to recognize women who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
“Leadership isn’t just about the systems we change – it’s about building the conditions for others to drive transformation themselves,” said Maricel Dicion, managing director of Women of Influence+, in a press release. “This year’s recipients exemplify that kind of leadership. By recognizing their work, we’re not only celebrating achievement – we’re reinforcing the many ways leadership shows up in the world and the power it has to shape the future.”
U of T faculty members named among the Top 25 Women of Influence+ are:
- Liisa Galea, senior scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and professor in the Institute of Medical Science in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Wendy Wolfman, director of the Menopause and Premature Ovarian Insufficiency Clinics at Mount Sinai Hospital and professor in the department of obstetrics and gynaecology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine
- Michelle Acorn, adjunct faculty member at the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing
U of T alumni recognized in the list are:
- Katherine Henderson, master of theological studies
- Karen Bliss, bachelor of arts in English and music history
- Jayna Hefford, bachelor of physical education
- Krishana Sankar, PhD, Temerty Faculty of Medicine
