The University of Toronto and CUPE 3902 Unit 3 reached a tentative agreement Saturday for a renewal collective agreement.

CUPE 3902 Unit 3 represents approximately 1,200 sessional instructors at the University of Toronto. These employees are engaged in teaching, demonstrating, tutoring and marking, on employment contracts of less than one year.

Details of the tentative agreement will be presented to the employees during an ascension meeting at New College, Wilson Hall, room 1016 today, Nov. 28, at 6:30 p.m.

Employees who attend the ascension meeting will vote to determine whether the tentative agreement will proceed to a bargaining unit-wide ratification vote. If yes, then polls will open for all employees in Unit 3 and remain open for the balance of this week at locations to be announced by the union.

“We encourage all employees who are CUPE 3902 Unit 3 members to attend the ascension meeting and vote,” said Kelly Hannah-Moffat, U of T's vice-president of human resources and equity. “My thanks go out to everyone on the university and union bargaining teams for their commitment and hard work on this agreement.”

The university has 23 collective agreements with 11 different unions. Thirteen agreements are up for renewal in 2017.
