Chirag Variawa recognized with Canadian Engineering Education Association fellowship

Chirag Variawa, an associate professor, teaching stream in the Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education and Practice in the University of Toronto's Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, has been named a fellow of the Canadian Engineering Education Association (CEEA).
The CEEA fellowship recognizes individuals who have demonstrated noteworthy service to engineering education, leadership or design education through their work with the association.
Variawa was recognized for his long-standing contributions to engineering education, including research that addresses barriers to learning through an inclusivity lens, leadership in strengthening first-year education and mentorship of students and educators. His work has also advanced the field through initiatives exploring student engagement and belonging.
“Professor Chirag Variawa is a pillar of the U of T community whose contributions have been felt both here and nationally for more than two decades,” said Christopher Yip, dean of the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering. “His outstanding commitment to our students creates a welcoming environment right from the outset of their engineering journeys.
