Anita McGahan elected a fellow of the British Academy

Anita McGahan, a University Professor Emerita at the Rotman School of Management, has been elected a fellow of the British Academy in recognition of outstanding contributions to the humanities and social sciences.

McGahan was among 92 scholars chosen this year to join the academy’s community of more than 1,800 fellows.

She holds the George E. Connell Chair in Organizations and Society, Emerita, at Rotman, and is cross-appointed to the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy, the Temerty Faculty of Medicine and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She is also a senior research scientist at the Burnes Center for Social Change at Northeastern University, where she leads the Pi2 project on private innovation in the public interest.

One of 32 newly elected international fellows, McGahan was cited for her research on entrepreneurship in the public interest and innovative collaboration between public and private organizations. Some major themes of her work include social justice, humanistic governance, fairness, global health and institutional innovation.

The U.K.’s national body for the humanities and social sciences, the British Academy invests in researchers and projects across those fields, shapes policy and promotes public engagement.
