Responsibilities:
Peter is the team leader for contract and by-incident
clients and acts as project manager for special projects. He often acts
as a technology advisor for internet, Microsoft Windows server OS and networking
issues. Peter also works closely with David Sutherland in advising university
staff and faculty on IT projects and technologies. He often picks up calls
to our help phone voice-mail in order to more quickly respond to client
issues.
Work History:
Peter joined the WTS team in the summer of 2000.
Prior to that he worked as the network administrator of a small engineering
sales firm with seven offices in Canada and the United States. Their WAN
was built on a heterogeneous mix of Unix and Microsoft Windows using secured
connections over the internet. He worked with consultants to implement
and maintain the corporate WAN as well coordinating programming for a central
sales and accounting software package. During his time with this employer,
Peter learned a lot about end customer support and how to use technology
to support the purpose of the business. He is excited to be working with
such a large group of skilled IT professionals.
Beyond Work:
In the real world, Peter enjoys camping, canoe
tripping, recreational volleyball and downhill skiing (out west). He has
traveled through bits of Europe, India, and Sri Lanka as well as to the
west and east coasts of Canada. He can hold his own in amateur Half-Life,
Team Fortress Classic, and Unreal Tournament contests - usually. |
