How to Submit an Application
The University College Writing Centre may hire individuals for the position of Writing Instructor. Specific positions will be posted on the bulletin board outside rm. 177 UC and on this site. To be considered for a position, please send a completed application form (available at www.utoronto.ca/ucwriting/doc/application.doc) along with a cover letter, a curriculum vitae and a brief (one- or two-page) writing sample to:

General Information
The chief duty of instructors at the Writing Centre is to counsel students individually on university writing, especially on organization, reasoning, style, and language use. Positions are open to suitably qualified applicants with a completed graduate degree from a post-secondary institution.
The eight-month position of Writing Instructor usually commences in September of each academic year. Openings are generally announced in May or June, and hiring decisions made in June or July. Unexpected vacancies may arise at any time.
Applications will be retained for 12 months. Persons who submit applications will receive emailed job postings for specific positions for the subsequent twelve months.
Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
This notice is posted pursuant to the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement. In accordance with that agreement, preference in hiring is given to qualified persons holding the rank of Writing Instructor II.
