In the Innis Cafe: "1001 Nights of Storytelling." Every Friday night since 1978, storytellers and listeners have been gathering in downtown Toronto for an open evening of oral stories. Tuesday October 2

OPIRG Toronto presents a film screening of Pink Ribbons Inc. followed by a talk and Q & A with Samantha King, author of "Pink Ribbons Inc.: Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy". Event takes place Tuesday October 2nd at 7pm. Admission is by suggested donation of 5-10$ or pay what you can. Tuesday October 9

Join Cuso International's Volunteers 4 the World Toronto Committee for a screening of the award-winning film The Voice of 650 Million Times One Tuesday October 9th at 7pm. The film will be followed with a presentation and discussion with Yin Brown, Program Officer for Advocacy and Alliances at CBM Canada an international development organization focusing on people with disabilities.For registration and further details please visit here. Thursday October 11

Yonge Talks will present Rahul Bhardwaj, president and CEO of the Toronto Community Foundation, in conversation with special guest Mary Rowe, vice president and managing director of The Municipal Art Society (MAS) of New York. Moderated by Yonge Talks stalwart Peter MacLeod of MASS LBP, they'll explore this year's Vital Signs findings, as well as the opportunities and challenges that emerge from it. Doors open at 6pm. Tuesday October 23

Urban Studies Program at the University of Toronto has sponsored an intimate screening of the documentary, Battle for Brooklyn. Following the screening, there will be a discussion led by Edward Keenan, senior editor at The Grid magazine, contributing editor at Spacing magazine and author of the book, Some Great Idea: Good Neighbourhoods, Crazy Politics and the Invention of Toronto. Doors open at 6:45pm. The screening is FREE and open to the public.

The Institute on Municipal Finance and Governance, along with the School of Public Policy and Governance, the Department of Geography and Planning, Urban Strategies, and Global City Indicators Facility are pleased to present the first lecture in the series, “Big City, Big Ideas,” entitled Hudson Yards, NYC: The History, Challenges and Opportunities of North America’s Largest City-Building Development.
