EYES ON INDIA: LITERARY ADAPTATIONS
WHAT: WORLD LITERACY OF CANADA presents EYES ON INDIA a two-part film series.
First Screening Nov. 9, 2004: SUCH A LONG JOURNEY directed by STURLA
GUNNARSSON and based on the novel of the same name by ROHINTON MISTRY. Includes an on-stage discussion between author and director.
Second Screening Dec. 7, 2004: IN CUSTODY directed by Ismail Merchant and
based on the novel by ANITA DESAI. Includes an on-stage discussion between
the author and CBC Radio Writers & Company host ELEANOR WACHTEL.

All films begin at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:45 p.m.)
WHO: Founded in 1955, World Literacy of Canada (WLC) is a non-profit
voluntary organization that promotes international development and social
justice. WLC supports community-based programs that emphasize adult literacy
and non-formal education for both children and adults. An active member of
the Toronto community, WLC hosts many literacy awareness initiatives
including the Kama Reading Series, the St. Jamestown Storytelling Festival
and several children's reading events.
TICKETS: $50 SERIES TICKET INCLUDES: two films * four special guest
speakers * door prizes and giveaways * charitable tax receipt for $40
