JHR Film Night-War Photographer
Following our successful co-presentation of 'Calling the Shots' at the Toronto HotDocs Festival, JHR is proud to bring you one of the most famous media related documentaries ever made: War Photographer. Please join us for the film on Thursday August 11th; there will be a Q & A after the film and a reception afterwards. All proceeds will go towards "Rights, Camera, Action!" a national summit for JHR's School Chapter members.
The Film: War Photographer is a captivating and intensely poignant film about James Nachtwey, one of the world's most important photojournalists. Swiss author, director and producer Christian Frei followed James Nachtwey for two years into conflict zones such as Indonesia, Kosovo and Palestine capturing both the photographer's motivations and fears.
When: August 11th 2005. The doors open at 7:00pm, the film starts at 7:30 and is 120 minutes long.
Cost: A minimum donation of $10 is appreciated.

THE MULTIPLE SELVES OF HANNAH MAYNARD
Writer/Director, Elizabeth Lazebnik. A portrait of 19th century pioneer
Canadian photographer Hannah Maynard. Considered overly bold and
unconventional, Maynard experimented with such techniques as photosculpture,
multiple exposures and collages. The film features Sheila McCarthy in the
role of Hannah Maynard.

CARPET CAFE
Writer/Director, Sonya Dykstra. Set in the heart of Istanbul, the film
offers a candid glimpse into the world of Turkish carpet sellers and
reveals three young, modern carpet salesmen who share their hopes, thoughts
and ambitions while keeping to their traditional culture.
