In the Innis Cafe: "1001 Nights of Storytelling." Every Friday night since 1978, storytellers and listeners have been gathering in downtown Toronto for an open evening of oral stories. The Asian Institute, in co-sponsorship with Reel Asian, CINSSU, CSI, Toronto Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office, presents a free screening of John Woo's A Better Tomorrow on Friday November 9th at 4:30pm. The film's editor, David Wu will be in attendace and a Q & A session will take place after the screening.

This day-long event will examine the craft and technology of documentary editing through case study talks, interactive discussions, and panels. The Consulate of Barbados presents a screening of Chrissy here at Innis Town Hall on Sunday November 18th at 4:30pm. Tickets for the screening are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 years and under.

 

Monday November 19

CINSSU and Fox Searchlight present a sneak preview of Hitchcock. This event is a special double bill and Psycho will be shown before the sneak preview. You will be asked to leave the theatre between the two screenings. Passes are available for pick up at the CINSSU office. Thursday November 22

To mark the International Day to End Impunity, CJFE is hosting a screening of the film "A Bitter Taste of Freedom": a documentary about the life of murdered Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya on Thursday November 22nd at 6:30pm. We are pleased to announce that the film's director, Marina Goldovskaya, will be joining us for the evening. Marina will hold a Q&A after the screening, interviewed by Madeline Ziniak, National Vice-President, Rogers OMNI Television. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 dollars at the door. The Defence for Children International Canada presents the 13th annual Grant Lowery Lecture on Child Rights: Solutions to Youth Violence ... Ask the Experts. The lecture takes place Tuesday November 27th at 7pm with doors opening at 6:30pm. Admission is free and donations are welcome. The lecture features an introduction by the Honourable R.
