In the Innis Cafe: "1001 Nights of Storytelling." Every Friday night since 1978, storytellers and listeners have been gathering in downtown Toronto for an open evening of oral stories. The Toronto Film Society presents a Sunday double bill screening at 2 pm featuring: CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK (1944, 71 minutes Director: Charles Lamont Cast: Donald O'Connor Peggy Ryan Ann Blyth Helen Vinson Arthur Treacher) The son of a strict Navy officer falls for the daughter of a musical-comedy star. Followed by: THE PAJAMA GAME (1957, 101 minutes Director: George Abbott; Starring: Dorris Day, John Raitt, Carol Haney) A critic said this adaptation of the Broadway musical hit virtually defines the word "exuberance". A lively, infectious story about a strike at a pajama factory with most of the Broadway cast intact (Day replaces Janis Paige) Many hit songs ("Hey There", "Hernado's Hideaway") and choreographed by Bob Fosse. Innis Town Hall presents an Oscar Night! Come and watch the red carpet festivities along with the entire awards show and fill out an Oscar ballot for the chance to win some amazing prizes. Doors will open at 5pm and admission (as well as the popcorn) is FREE.
