review process and evaluation forms

review process

  • Applications are peer-reviewed by a team of experts without conflict of interest. Conflict of interest is defined as standing to benefit by the award of a trainee stipend, such as by supervising and/or co-supervising a trainee applying to the program.

  • Applications are scored based on the excellence of:

    1. The trainee training and academic record, research experience, letters of reference;

    2. The supervisors and research environment track record, training environment and commitment to the project; and,

    3. The research project scientific merit, collaborative effort between laboratories and timeline, fit with the core aims of the Program, and a clear statement of why the trainee should be funded from the Program and not an individual operating grant.

  • Ethics approval is required for all projects and is a condition of funding. No funding will be released by the Program Coordinator without the relevant documentation.

  • Funding duration will be for one year with the opportunity for competitive renewal, but will not exceed two years.
