Slavic Linguistics

Go to list of Slavic Linguistics courses

The Department's linguistics courses deal with both the structure and history of language and are concerned with explaining the nature of language.  They are an essential component of the study of the language and literature of these peoples at the University level.

Courses are offered in the structure of Russian, in the history of Russian, Polish, and Ukrainian, and in Old Church Slavonic.  No such courses are yet offered for Estonian, but our Estonian language is taught by a specialist in Estonian and Finno-Ugric linguistics, who is available for consultation.  In the future, FIN 450H, a course on Finnish and Finno-Ugric Linguistics, will be added to our offerings.
