The 2007-08 Shared Citizenship Public Lecture Series: The Wealth of First Nations The theme for 2007-08, entitled “The Wealth of First Nations,” is economic development in Aboriginal communities in Canada. Each of this year’s two sessions will address the fundamental and overarching question that frames the series as a whole: How should we understand the relationship between economic empowerment, cultural empowerment, and political empowerment for Canada’s Aboriginal peoples? The 2007-08 Shared Citizenship series will honour the outgoing Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, The Honourable James K. Bartleman. This year’s series has been co-sponsored by the Munk Centre for International Studies, the Centre for Ethics, and the Centre for Aboriginal Initiatives and the Aboriginal Studies Program at the University of Toronto. All of our events are free and open to the public.
