About Our Website
Welcome to the website for the Improving the Quality of Life of Canadian
Seniors project. The purpose of the Seniors Quality of Life website is to:
- allow seniors across the country to participate in the project through surveys, correspondence, etc.
- provide a source of information for all of the individuals and organizations involved in the project
- make results of the project widely available
- create a communication link between the regional projects
Accessibility
We have developed a text only version of the site for those people who are using
adaptive technologies such as braille and audio translators. This
will also allow those people who have older computers to have access to the site. However,
due to limited resources, only some of the basic information will be made
available on this mirror site. Unfortunately, the final reports will only be
available in Adobe Acrobat PDF format, as they are produced individually by the
regions. Printed copies may be obtained from the regional coordinators at their
discretion.
Downloading Plug-ins
These plug-ins are not required for you to view the basic content
of the site. However, some documents are posted in the Adobe
PDF format, for which you will need Adobe Reader. As many other sites use this
format as well, it will be advantageous for you to acquire it.
If you wish to view our site with all the features, you will need
to download the plug-ins from the world wide web. Plug-ins are essentially
small programs that enable web browsers (eg., Netscape, Internet Explorer)
to activate files created with different software. Two of the most common
of these are Adobe Acrobrat Reader and Macromedia's Shockwave Player. The Adobe Acrobat Reader views text files that have already been
formatted in a word processing or similar program. The Shockwave player
allows you to view animations and hear sound files created with Macromedia
software.
The process for downloading these files is accomplished in 3 steps:
