TORONTO ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Improving the Quality of Life of Canadian Seniors Project

Role

The Toronto Advisory Committee (AC) will act as a consultation group to the Coordinating Committee. The AC will consider and provide recommendations on various aspects of the project's design and implementation, dissemination of information, and action on its findings.

Membership

  • Representatives from Seniors Organizations (minimum of 7)
  • Providers of Seniors-Related Services (minimum of 3)
  • Municipal Staff (minimum of 2)
  • Representative of the local university (minimum of 1)
  • Other members as deemed appropriate by the Toronto Coordinating Committee

Accountability

The members of the AC are accountable to the communities, organizations, and seniors they represent. The Coordinating Committee is accountable for directing the design and implementation of the project.

Responsibilities

  • To review the research protocol (e.g., communications, participant recruitment strategies, design, data collection and analysis methods) and provide recommendations to the Coordinating Committee.
  • To advise on the project's relevance and appropriateness to seniors and those who work with and for seniors.
  • To promote the value of the project in various settings (e.g., seniors' groups, health and health-related service providers, government, media, etc.).
  • To assist the Coordinating Committee in identifying strategies for the dissemination and application of the project's findings at program and policy levels.
  • To be individually available to assist sub-committees of the Coordinating Committee.

Meeting Schedule

The Advisory Committee will meet four times a year. The venue of the meetings may vary in order to accommodate members of the Committee.
