Update - April 2000

The data collection phase will soon be complete. We have conducted seven focus groups with elderly people, two with services providers and one with representatives from municipal administration. As for our elderly focus groups, five were conducted in French, one in English and another one in Spanish. We have decided to conduct one last focus group uniting elderly leaders from different cultural communities (Haitians, Greeks, Portugueses and Indians).
Write-up reports for each of these groups will be complete later this week.
Each elderly focus group has had the opportunity to review its report. We are in the process of doing the same validation with our professional focus groups. This should be done by the end of May. The summer will be devoted to the writing of our final report of which we should have a first version ready for our fall activities.
We have developed a website for the project hoping that it will facilitate comments from the public. So far, this strategy did not prove to be very successful but maybe the presentation of results next fall will help.
Both the Advisory and Coordinating Committees are working hard to craft an action plan for our Year 2. Ideas are welcome!
