Educational Activities

Year II
I have been responsible for the teaching of a group of six medical students each year. This involves seminars in respiratory physiology as well as clinical bedside teaching. Each group has attended a total of ten sessions each of three hours duration. These students are part of The Wellesley Hospital undergraduate group. As well, I have acted as an examiner for a clinic group of six students assessing their knowledge of clinical respiratory medicine, pulmonary function testing and chest x rays.

Year IV Clerkship
Clinical teaching is conducted weekly in the chest clinic at The Wellesley Hospital.

Interns and Medical Residents
Clinical teaching is done for interns and medical residents at the chest clinic at the Wellesley Hospital each week. New cases and consultations are seen and discussed with the house staff.

Postgraduate Teaching
A respiratory fellow is assigned to the respiratory unit at West Park Hospital to gain experience in respiratory rehabilitation, tuberculosis and other mycobacterial diseases and pulmonary function testing. I have been directly responsible for their training in conjunction with Dr. R. Goldstein.

As part of my involvement in the postgraduate teaching of subspecialty respiratory trainees, I have acted as an examiner for the oral examinations of respiratory fellows.

Other Teaching Activities
As part of my function as attending medical staff at West Park Hospital, I have been involved in lectures for paramedical personnel (nurses, physiotherapist, occupational therapy etc.) related to the different aspects of respiratory care.
