Fiona Webster
PhD
Dr. Fiona Webster is an Education Scientist in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Toronto. She holds a PhD in sociology from the University of Toronto and has trained in critical qualitative and ethnographic approaches including institutional ethnography. Prior to this she was an Associate Scientist with the musculoskeletal health program at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where she led several innovative studies investigating delivery of surgical care and pain management from clinical, policy and patient standpoints. Her current research in medical education focuses on pain management in primary care and education, including issues of hidden curriculum. Fiona is cross-appointed to the Institute of Management and Evaluation (IHPME) and the Institute of Medical Science (IMS) where she teaches qualitative research methods and knowledge translation. She is also a cross-appointed scientist at the Wilson Centre and an academic fellow with the Centre for Critical Qualitative Research (CQ).
