After graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in 1968 (DDS) and completion of a dental internship at the Toronto General and Toronto Western Hospitals, Dr. Mock was engaged in the general practice of dentistry in Mississauga, Ontario for one year.  Subsequently he entered graduate studies at the University of Toronto, completing a residency in oral pathology and oral medicine as well as a doctorate in oral pathology in 1978 (PhD).  In 1977, he achieved fellowship in oral pathology of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada [FRCD(C)] and fellowship in oral medicine. He was Dentist-in-Chief from 1992 to 2000, and is still Staff Dentist, Staff Pathologist and Associate Director of the Wasser Pain Management Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital.  As well Dr. Mock is Professor of Oral Pathology/Oral Medicine Faculty of Dentistry and Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.  Professor Mock was Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto from 2001 to 2012
