Research:

My research interests have been in the area of diet and cancer and I am now interested in the new and exciting area of nanotechnology and its role in nutrition. In the past, I managed a research team, including 2 postdoctoral fellows, 6 research associates, mentored research of 8 Ph.D. and M.Sc. students, and 14 undergraduate students. I have also been awarded:

    • a contract to conduct a Comprehensive Review and Analysis of Safety Implications of Nanoscale Science and Technology in Food by the US Institute of Food Technologists and the Grocery Manufacturers Association of America; and

    • over one million dollars from NIH, USDA, American Cancer Society, American Institute for Cancer Research, The Cancer Prevention Research Association, Joint Institute of Food Safety and Nutrition, various commodity groups, and industry.
