Research

I am involved in both clinical and basic research focusing on the potential of nutrients or nutrition as a cardioprotective strategy. I have been investigating the potential cardioprotective effect of triple nutrient therapy in rats and in humans. I am also interested in other cardioprotective strategies such as the ability of pre-operative carbohydrate loading to reduce insulin resistance. Finally, I am also looking at the use of the glycemic index as a strategy to reduce insulin resistance as well as its importance in the Dietary Portfolio diet to reduce cardiovascular risk factors.
