Currently, we are mainly conducting patient based clinical research. Our focus is on the assessment of diet and lifestyle (obesity, physical activity), and on the measurement of oxidative stress, antioxidants and fatty acid composition in different tissues. We investigate the influence of these factors on metabolic abnormalities and hepatic steatosis in patients with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver disease (NAFLD), HIV, or Hepatitis C (HCV). Another study includes liver-transplant and lung-transplant patients.
In the near future we are planning to include the micro array technique to assess gene expression related to fatty acid metabolism in patients with liver disease.
More information on our clinical trials can be found at www.clinicaltrials.gov
