UTORnews /
UTORnewsUTORnews is a News reading service provided to students, faculty and staff in the University of Toronto community. Individuals may use Netscape, the supported newsreader of the Information Commons, to access approximately 7,000 newsgroups through the UTORnews News server: netnews.utoronto.ca. GETTING HELP WITH UTORNEWSThe Information Commons, through its Walk-in and Phone-in Help Desk services, is the first level of support when clients encounter problems with UTORnews software (installation and use). The Commons also prepares packages--called "starter" packages--which include appropriate software, installation and basic user guides for various computer configurations (Macintosh and PC). You can visit the Information Commons on the first floor of Robarts Library, call for help at 978-HELP (4357) or send e-mail to <help.desk@utoronto.ca>. NOTES FOR NEW USERSNew users are encouraged to review documentation in the newsgroup news.announce.newusers. The articles provide a good foundation towards understanding the mechanics, protocols and culture of News. DOCUMENTS
