For incoming mail: For the incoming mail server, also known as the IMAP server, goto to UTORid Management Site, click on "get information" , provide your UTORid & password, click on the "Authenticate" button, then look at what it says next to "IMAP (Incoming Mail) Server". The port is 993. In some email packages you have to select the Required, Alternate Port (e.g. Eudora), whereas others require use of the SSL option.
For outgoing mail: Use smtp.utoronto.ca for the outgoing (SMTP) mail server, set the port to 587. Some email packages require use of the Required, STARTTLS option (e.g. Eudora), whereas others use the TLS option.
