Configuring SnapperMail for Access to UTORmail on a PalmTreo 650

The Information Commons and UTM Help Desks do not provide support for SnapperMail

Before You Start

Before you start, please ensure your UTORid has been activated, and that you have your @utoronto.ca email address and UTORmail configuration number handy.

Configure SnapperMail for use with UTORmail

  1. Start and press the Menu Button on your PalmTreo.
  2. In SnapperMail, tap Accounts > Account Setup > New Account ...




  3. Tap IMAP4



  4. In the following screen,
    • At the first prompt type UTORmail (for the name of the IMAP4 Account).
    • Below Your Name: type your name.
    • Below Email Address: type your UTORmail address.




  5. Tap the Server tab. In the following screen,
    • Beside IMAP4 Server: type in your UTORmail mailbox server (mailboxNN.utcc.utoronto.ca) where 'NN is your configuration number, e.g. mailbox20.utcc.utoronto.ca
    • Beside Username: type in your UTORid
    • Beside Password: type in your UTORid password
    • Below Outgoing Mail: beside SMTP Server: we recommend smtp.utoronto.ca
    • Tap More…



  6. Below IMAP4 Settings: to the left of No SSL security, tap the down arrow.




  7. In the following window,
    • At the top beside IMAP4 Settings: Use Port: 993 should appear.
    • Choose Always secure (wrapped port) from the menu.
    • Below Always secure (wrapped port), Always trust server should appear with a check mark.
    • Now tap OK.
