Configuring PC-Pine and Alpine for UTORmailSummary: This document provides specific instructions on how to configure PC-Pine and Alpine for use with UTORmail. The values provided should work with earlier releases of Pine and Alpine. Installing PinePine is available from the Information Commons Website, or can be downloaded from the Pine site. A newer version, released as Alpine is available here.

This completes the installation. Configuring Pine for UTORmailQuick Reference For Experienced UsersIf you are experienced configuring E-mail client software, just use the values in the Values Summary box below. Otherwise, proceed to the directions for creating a new account.
* Where "your_UTORid" is replaced by your UTORid.
** Where "mailboxNN.utcc.utoronto.ca" is replaced by your UTORmail configuration number.
Creating Your UTORmail Account in PineTo set up your UTORmail account, follow these steps: Help Protect Your E-mail with Enhanced Security Network Access:Enhanced security network access uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) as a protocol that helps ensure the privacy of documents transmitted over the Internet, including email messages. Once activated, SSL encrypts your incoming messages, ensuring that passwords and other private information can not be intercepted in transit.
Activating SSL in Pine is quick and easy, and CNS strongly recommends that you do so as soon as possible.
