Admission to a Graduate Programme in NMC requires the applicant to have acquired a background in languages.
Specialist programme:
11 FCEs, including at least four 300+ series courses, one of which must be a 400-series course. At least nine must be NMC/NML courses. Others may be taken only from a list of non-NMC courses accepted in our programmes.
First Year: NMC 101Y or NMC 184H or NMC185H. It is recommended that language instruction begin in first year, if possible.
Higher Years:
1. Four FCEs in one or two primary source languages. (NML designator - does not include literature in translation)
2. Three FCEs in History and/or Religion and Philosophy
3. Two FCEs in Archaeology and/or Art and Material Culture
4. One additional FCE
Major programme:
Six FCEs, including at least two 300-series course, one of which must be at the 400-level. At least five must be NMC/NML courses. One other may be taken only from a list of non-NMC courses accepted in our programmes.
Students should choose between a Major With Language, or a Major Without Language:
Major With Language:
First Year: NMC101Y1Y/NMC184H1, NMC185H1
Higher Years: two to four FCEs in one or two languages, plus two FCEs with an NMC designator
Major Without Language:
First Year: NMC101Y1Y/NMC184H1, NMC185H1
Higher Years: at least three FCEs from one of the NMC subject groupings below, one of which must be at the 400-level. Two FCEs can be taken from the other groupings.
Minor programme:
Four FCEs, including at least one 300+ series course. All four must be NMC/NML courses.
