MMPA Investment Club Sponsors Bloomberg Event

Congratulations to the MMPA Investment Club for organizing an exciting and enriching Bloomberg financial information event for interested MMPA students. 

On November 8th, 2011, lead by co-presidents Edward Tseng and Jaclyn Chiang, the newly founded Investment Club organized a popular Bloomberg training event, in the financial district of downtown Toronto.  The event, in partnership with Michael Meth, Director of the Li Koon Chun Finance Learning Centre, highlighted the invaluable knowledge to be gained by understanding financial commodities in our ever-changing global market. 

Students wanting to attain a Bloomberg Certification were encouraged to access curricula and exam modules through Bloomberg terminals located inside the Li Koon Chun Finance Learning Centre.

Entrepreneurship in the App World of Polar Mobile – Marlon Rodrigues

On September 21st, 2011, MMPA welcomed Marlon Rodrigues, Director of Alliances, Polar Mobile Toronto.  Responsible for relationships with major device manufacturers, technology vendors and monetization partners, Marlon has helped Polar grow their app portfolio from 2 apps to over 700 today.  He shared his experiences and insights on networking to find brilliant, good associates, on entrepreneurship, as well as on the merits and models of the mobile app business.

Creating Value as a Management Accountant – Janet Pierce, FCMA, CMC

On September 7, 2011 MMPA was delighted to provide a session with Janet Pierce, a strategic management accounting professional and senior member of the CMA Ontario executive team.  Janet spoke about the operating innovations she had brought to previous employers due to her extensive experience in strategic planning, change management, and designing management information systems to support decision-making.  Students gained invaluable lessons on how the learning involved in a CMA designation can add value for the CMA holder and her or his employer.
