APPROVALS
Before you can obtain the cells from our Core Training Facility, you must first complete a process of Ethics Approvals through the Research Ethics Board (REB).
Next, you must have approval from your own institution's Research Ethics Board to have ethics approval for human subjects. The University of Toronto's REB forms can be found here.
Be sure to download the appropriate forms for the faculty you are in. Please consult your own institution's Research Ethics Board for their forms.
Thirdly, the Stem Cell Oversight Committee must give approval and can only be applied for after your home institution's REB gives their approval for your proposed work. Consult their website for full details.

CA1/CA2 Cells
Because our CA1/CA2 cells were originally obtained from Mount Sinai Hospital, a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) must be completed. To obtain an MTA, contact Mt. Sinai's Office of Technology Transfer and Industry Liaison at:Office of Technology Transfer & Industrial Liaison

Please note, this step is for CA1/CA2 cells only. For all other cells another MTA will be provided.
WiCell derived cell lines available through the Core Facility
The University of Toronto, on behalf of the McLaughlin-McEwen Pluripotent Stem Cell Core Training Facility has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU #08-W320) with the WiCell Research Institute to obtain materials (cell lines) from WiCell. The Core Facility will bank and distribute certain lines derived at WiCell as well as mediate their acquisition from WiCell. If you wish to order cells, please read the MOU and implementing letter (see PDF). Also, fill out the Simple Letter Agreement (SLA, available through our website) and return it (along with accompanying documentation) to the Core Facility. The Core Facility will collect all SLAs and forward them to WiCell for execution. Be advised that the Core Facility will require a copy of all supporting documents (ie. SCOC approval) that were sent to WiCell as well as the final signed SLA for its own records. Materials ordered through the Facility will not be released until a copy of all these documents are on file.
Once a year, before May 1st, the annual certification (available through our website) will have to be completed and sent to the Core Facility, which will forward a copy to WiCell, as per terms described in the MOU.
