Overview
The MPCT ranges from being a lively place, filled with activity and interaction, to a meditative retreat conducive to profound insights and thoughts shared through the wonders of "communications at electric speed." Hosted by a heritage home since the 1960's, which resembles a living museum, it is indeed a place where the spirit of Marshall McLuhan lives on, having inspired over the years many people associated with the Program.

Derrick de Kerckhove, Director of the Program since 1983, has been associated with the Centre for Culture and Technology (founded in 1963, under the direction of Prof. Marshall McLuhan), and later with the Program, formed in 1983, for over forty years; he is Full Professor at the French Department. The MPCT Executive, also referred to as "Board of Directors", was formed in its present composition in 2004, with Michael Edmunds, himself a student of McLuhan's and Head of UofT's Scotia Bank Information Commons having joined the Program since 2002 as Assistant Director, and Dominique Scheffel-Dunand, Professor at York University with several appointments at UofT, and Donald Gillies, Professor Emeritus from Ryerson University, joining later at the invitation of the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Information Studies - Brian Cantwell Smith. MPCT's endeavours are guided by its Executive Committee, and facilitated/implemented by its Staff.

A number of people have been associated with the MPCT over the years, whether as staff or in a leadership/governing position, among whom are David Olson, Barry Wellman (page), Ted Nelson (page), and Steve Mann (page), and also Liss Jeffrey (page), Mark Federman (page), Jason Nolan (page).

McLuhan Fellows
The MPCT is privileged to have a number of McLuhan Fellows in residence with us in Toronto. These Graduate-level and post-Doctoral researchers are here under the auspices of their home university or institution, their government or company, to further their knowledge and explorations in areas related to the Program's mandate. The Program has also acknowledged select individuals - academics and professionals - with significant contributions in the domain of culture and technology.(here)

In the Double-Anniversary 2008 Year, we invite former fellows
to "re-
connect" -
to update/create their profile, to join events...

We do look forward to your input,
