The Lionel Gelber Prize was founded in 1989 by Canadian
diplomat Lionel Gelber. The Gelber Prize is a literary award for the world's best non-fiction book in English that seeks to deepen public debate on significant global issues.

Jury Annoucement
October 27, 2009 (Toronto and Washington) ─ The jury for the 2010 Lionel Gelber Prize, announced today, includes the former Chairman of Dow Jones & Company, the Executive Director of Documentary Programming for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, a prize-winning senior fellow at New York’s Council on Foreign Relations, and a best-selling U.S. economic historian and columnist for Bloomberg News.
The jury was announced by Noah Rubin, Chair of the Lionel Gelber Prize and grand-nephew of Lionel Gelber, the Canadian scholar, diplomat and author in whose memory the Prize was created. “We are gratified that the Prize attracts such distinguished jurors.
It is an honour to have their service for the 20th anniversary of the Prize,” said Mr. Rubin.
