2008-2009, the Program hosted three visiting scholars for one-month
periods of research at the University of Toronto.
- Alina Cherviatsova, Associate Professor, Faculty of Law, Karazin Kharkiv National University, will be coming to CERES in October to conduct a research on the European Court of Human Rights and its place in the legal system of Ukraine.
- Olena Haleta, Director, Center for the Humanities, Department of the Theory of Literature and Comparative Literary Studies, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, will be coming to CERES in January 2009. She be working on the project titled “The Anthology as a Way to the Literary Ontology in Ukrainian Literature of the 20th Century”.
- Anna Wylegala, a PhD student at the Graduate School for Social Research, Warsaw, will be working on a project titled “Displaced People, Displaced Memory? Local Historical Identity in Ukrainian Galicia and Polish “Regained Lands”. The project deals with issues of historical memory in places of large compulsory war and postwar migrations in Central-Eastern Europe, namely in Ukrainian Galicia and Polish “Regained Lands”. Case study of two small towns from those regions aims to compare shape of today’s historical identity of its inhabitants. Her visit is scheduled for March 2009.
