Experiential Learning Program
Central to the Urban Studies Program is the notion of experiential learning. The explicit representation of this in the program is through the core couse, INI437Y (see Courses page for a discussion of how this course fits into the various subject POSts in Urban Studies). The intent of INI437Y1 is to enhance student learning of advanced topics in urban studies through the placement of students in relevant internship positions with governmental and quasi-governmental organizations involved in the administration and management of urban areas.
In the past, internship hosts have included:
- The Mayor’s office (City of Toronto);
- Various City of Toronto Councillor’s offices;
- The Canadian Urban Institute;
- The Toronto Housing Corporation; and,
- The Toronto City Summit Alliance.
Details regarding the experiential learning program can be obtained by contacting the Director of the Experiential Learning Program, Professor Shauna Brail (firstname.lastname@example.org).
