Academic services are adjunct instruction in the normal process of university study, and at Innis College one-to-one instruction is a cornerstone of academic support. The words of the Director of the Writing Centre at Innis are applicable also to the Math/Stats Centre and the Librarian's support:

"At the heart of the Writing Centre's effectiveness lies a face-to-face meeting between a highly qualified writing instructor and a student--an encounter of two minds concentrating on teaching and learning. There are resources that can supplement this process, but nothing can replace it. Much can distract from it."
