Program Highlighted | Pathobiology Introduction | Dr. Doug Templeton "Pathobiology is the study of mechanisms of disease. Our Specialist Program builds upon teaching in the basic medical sciences to present a series of courses in 3rd and 4th Years that give the students insight into what causes disease and how we research these causes. There is an emphasis on understanding current scientific knowledge in molecular and cellular biology and how it is being used to reveal disease processes. Courses are taught by a mixture of clinicians and basic scientists. Our students are encouraged to pursue research projects at the undergraduate level and are well equipped for subsequent graduate research, although many also choose to go on in the health professions. We attract and accept only the very best students. As far as we know, this program is unique in Canada, and perhaps North America. We are aware of a similar program in Birmingham, England."
