Program Highlighted | Canadian Studies
Interview with | Erin Valentine
Date | December 2002

Introduction |

The Canadian Studies Program, offered by University College, offers opportunities to study the structure of Canadian culture and society in an interdisciplinary manner. Students are able to explore the ways in which cultural, social, economic, and political developments are linked and how they vary geographically in this diverse country.

Along with taking the four core courses, students in the Specialist and Major programs select four courses within one of several themes, such as: the French Presence in Canada, Canada in International Perspective, the Canadian Environment, Pluralism and Ethnicity in Canada, and the Social Structure of Canada. Additionally, students are encouraged to create new "themes" which best meet their own interests and are subject to approval by the Program Director, Sylvia Bashevkin.

Students are welcome to join or participate in events sponsored by the Canadian Studies Students' Union. Inquiries can be sent to: canadianstudies@hotmail.com.
