October- November

Now that you have some ideas about what you want to study and where you want to study it, it is time to start doing some university research in the field, that is, visit as many universities as possible. Online information is invaluable and university reps are a great source of information and advice, but you will not really get the feel of a place until you visit.

If you live far from a school or you have other constraints, all is not lost. Many students have been very happy at a university that they had never seen until they started classes there. If you are able to visit the schools you are seriously considering, however, it is likely worth the effort. The extra information about the campus and residence facilities, the library resources, the feel of the campus, and the environment of the city in which the university is located may make your decision much easier.

Many universities have open house days that are specifically geared to incoming students. The University of Toronto, St. George Campus, Fall Campus Day is Saturday 20 October 2012. Drop by the Innis College booth while you are there; we will be giving tours of our much-coveted residence! The University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) and University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC) also hold fall open house events on their own campuses.

The online OUAC 101 application form is available in late September or early October. The OUAC 105 application, which you need to use if you are applying to full-time study and are not currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, will also be available online in October. OUAC 105 applications are processed on an ongoing basis, so the sooner you apply and submit the required documentation, the sooner you will receive a response.

Most of the information on the admission cycle in this Application Calendar is geared to Ontario high school students, but key deadlines for OUAC 105 applicants are noted as well. Once you have submitted the OUAC 105 form, you will receive confirmation from the University of Toronto with further application instructions and document deadlines. The application instruction guide for the OUAC 105 form is also available online.

For more information about applying to the University of Toronto, visit the University of Toronto website for prospective students and the Office of Admissions and Awards.
