Investing in Our Future
A generous gift of $25,000 from Mark Weisdorf (BCom 1979 INNIS) and Lorraine Bell will provide much needed scholarship support for Innis College students. Matched by the Ontario government’s OTSS matching program, the Weisdorf Family donation will create an endowment of $50,000.
This generous gift comes just a few years after the Mark and Lorraine Weisdorf Family Scholarship for Innis College Program was established in support of Innis College students enrolled in the College’s three academic programs: Cinema Studies; Urban Studies; and Writing and Rhetoric.
“We are extremely grateful to Mark and Lorraine for their continued generosity to Innis College, and their unwavering support of our students.” says Principal Janet Paterson.
Scholarships and awards are incredibly important at Innis College. A strong scholarship program helps attract the most promising and talented students, and provides the College the resources to recognize top students for their academic excellence and leadership. Most importantly, financial need scholarships help remove financial barriers for students who may otherwise be unable to afford a university education.
Without support from alumni and friends like the Weisdorfs, Innis College would be unable to offer financial support to the thirty-five per cent of students who depend on the College for some level of financial aid.
Along with the Weisdorfs and many other generous alumni and friends, Innis College is investing in the future of its students, and helping them achieve their dreams.
Mark is Managing director and Chief Investment Officer at JPMorgan Asset Management’s Infrastructure Investments group. He lives in New York City with Lorraine, and the couple has twin daughters.
