Innis Residence -in the business of proposals?
Aaron Small (BASc 2000) knew he was going to marry girlfriend Diana Stefanescu (HBSc INNIS 2004)shortly after they started dating, but it took him 5 ½ years to think of the perfect proposal.
On the road for a weekend camping trip, Aaron broke the news to Diana that they would have to make a quick stop for his work. Aaron was working on a project at U of T with his engineering firm -or so that’s what he told Diana. To Diana’s surprise, Aaron’s project involved the U of T garage under Innis Residence where she had lived during her first year at U of T, and where they had first met. In order to access the garage, Aaron and Diana had to stop in at the residence and meet-up with Cornelia, Innis Residence Front Desk Supervisor.
Cornelia asked her visitors to accompany her upstairs for an urgent task before taking them to the garage. Distracted by the nostalgia of being back in her old residence, Diana didn’t notice how odd it was that Cornelia’s ‘urgent task’ (equipping a closet in a 4th floor suite with coat hangers) had brought them to her old residence room.
With Cornelia out of the room for a few minutes, a nervous but excited Aaron didn’t waste much time as he asked the most important question of his life: ‘Diana, will you marry me?’
Today, the happy couple is planning a beautiful wedding with close friends and family, and is looking forward to spending a long life together. Congratulations Diana and Aaron!
