After last year’s successful launch of Backpack to Briefcase, the Cinema Studies Institute and the Departments of English and History are delighted to be co-hosting the seriesNew Image.JPG again this year. The Backpack to Briefcase series was designed to provide soon-to-be graduates with advice essential in navigating the working world.  Alumni from each academic program are invited to share their experiences and professional advice with upper-year students.

The first event of the 2010/2011 series was a panel discussion with Cinema Studies alumni. Students listened attentively to guest speakers Jim Shedden (‘96), Project Manager, Publications and Special Projects, AGO; Theresa Scandiffio (’99), Manager of Adult Learning at TIFF Bell Lightbox; Sarah Barmak (’08), Freelance Journalist; and, Sarah Lawless (’95), Producer, CBC.  Alumni guest speakers shared their experiences in the working world, offered advice to students hesitant about next steps, and reinforced the value and benefit of transferrable skills that they had gained through the Cinema Studies program.
