The Institute for Canadian Music was established in the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto in 1984, at the same time as the Jean A. Chalmers Chair in Canadian Music. There are two articles by John Beckwith on the early projects and activities of the Institute for Canadian Music: 1988 (en français); 1990 (in English).
NB: The newsletter is behind schedule, but Vol. 6, no. 2 (May 2008 issue) will soon be available. Contact the Institute at ChalmersChair [at] yahoo.ca to be added to the mailing list. The newsletter appears in an online version about six months after the print version.
