Microsoft Campus Agreement for Faculty, Staff, and Departments

The University of Toronto is in the process of implementing a Microsoft Campus Agreement. It will provide licensing for the Microsoft Windows desktop operating system, Microsoft Office, and other products for use by faculty, staff, and departments on University of Toronto owned/leased workstations, laptops, and equipment.

We ask that if you do not need to purchase these products immediately that you wait until they become available from the University through the Campus Agreement. When they become available they will be removed from our catalogue.

The Licensed Software Office will continue to distribute Microsoft Select Agreement products that are not provided through the Campus Agreement.

We will provide more information on when and how the Campus Agreement products will be distributed as it becomes available. Some FAQs about the program are available from the I+TS Newsletter on pages 2-4.

Microsoft Office 2013 Now Available!

Microsoft Office 2013 is now available for purchase from the Licensed Software Office for faculty, staff, and departments. Home and student versions of Microsoft Office can be purchased from the UofT Bookstore.

Please note that Microsoft Office 2013 products are only compatible with Window 7/8 and Windows Server 2008 R2/2012. They are NOT compatible with Windows XP or Windows Vista.

Matlab Renewal for 2013

Matlab can now be pre-purchased for the 2013 license period.

The license file and activation rights have been made available by Mathworks and can be renewed and re-activated as of December 20, 2012.

UShop Software Downloads Now Available!

We have great news for our UShop customers!

You are now able to download software purchased from the Licensed Software Office rather than having to pick it up in person.

You will purchase software as usual through UShop’s LSO catalogue – then, once you receive your order confirmation, you simply log in to our LSO Software @ UofT website to download the software.

The Information Commons Licensed Software Office now has an online store.You must be an active UofT student, faculty or staff member to be eligible to use this service and you must log in from a computer with a UofT IP address. You can pay using credit card and download the software.

Log in to the store with your UTORid and password at software.utoronto.ca.

SPSS 21

IBM SPSS Statistics Version 21 is available for purchase from the Licensed Software Office. Visit the SPSS description page for full details.

If you purchased a license for the current license period, you are entitiled to upgrade to the latest version of SPSS for the cost of the CD/DVD ($4.00).

Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012

Symantec Endpoint Protection Anti-Virus Renewal

On June 1, 2012 the University of Toronto's campus-wide subscription to Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) expired and was not renewed (more information). The Licensed Software Office will renew licenses for departments that would like to continue using SEP. If your department would like to renew SEP please contact us as soon as possible as we will finalize the renewal by Friday June, 8, 2012.

Based on the total number of committed renewals the pricing will be as follows:
0-1000 licenses: $7.00 per workstation per year
1000-1499 licenses: $6.90 per workstation per year
1500+ licenses: $6.81 per workstation per year

An alternative to Symantec Endpoint Protection is Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection 2012 which can be purchased through UShop. The cost is $3.25 per user/device per 12 month period and the software is available for either Windows or Mac/Linux. It has been placed under the following category:

UShop

Final Transition from FIS paper transactions to UShop

To reduce financial transaction costs to the University of Toronto, the LSO has transitioned FIS payments through paper order form to UShop.

Paper order forms requesting to charge orders to FIS accounts are no longer used. Cash, debit, and credit transactions will continue to be processed as normal. Ushop is UofT’s online shopping system through which all faculty and staff with a UShop account can purchase products directly.

About the Licensed Software Office (LSO)

The LSO negotiates and administers software license agreements with many vendors in order to decrease overall software costs to the University. The software can be purchased by UofT students, faculty and staff. However, depending on our agreement with the vendor, not all software is available to everyone.
