The Hungarian Research Institute of Canada was established in 1985 as a research ancillary of the University of Toronto. It is a financially independent and apolitical institution dedicated to the advancement of scholarship in Hungarian studies, particularly in history and social sciences. The HRIC reports to the Governing Council of the University of Toronto. As the leading North American centre of Hungarian Scholarship, the HRIC seeks to foster scholarly and commercial interaction between Canada and Central Europe. The HRIC promotes the active participation of Canada in Central Europe, helps Canadians recognise opportunities in scholarship and business in the region, and highlights these opportunities through its various programs. Since the HRIC is dependent on private and corporate donations, the institute invites all those sharing its objectives to make a tax-deductible contribution. Detailed information on making donations to specific programs is available from the Chairman of the HRIC. Contact Information
